Kettlebell Training – HYPE or Hope?
Kettlebell training is becoming very popular but is it just commercialized gimmicky hype or does it actually provide hope to frustrated exercisers?
Sure, military commandos, law enforcement, and elite athletes are now using kettlebells, but if you don’t fall into one of those three categories (and most of us don’t), can the kettlebell help you out?
Here’s a quick checklist that will help you decide if kettlebell training is right for you:
1. You’re tired of working out in crowded gym.
2. You’re tired of the same old boring exercise routine
3. You’re tired of not seeing the results you know you should be.
4. You want to spend less time working out and more time doing the things you love to do.
5. You have some injuries which prevent you from getting the results you used to.
Let’s take a closer look at each one of these and see how kettlebell training could be the solution to your exercise problems.
1. You’re tired of working out in crowded gym.
Nobody likes working out in a crowd and having to let others “work in.” When I was a personal trainer in a swank New York City health club, there was actually a line to use the treadmills. Each person signed up on a list and each user was limited to 30 minutes.
That’s no way to have to work out.
Kettlebell training is something you can do anywhere and at any time. You can do it from the comfort of your own home, which means you don’t have to share your kettlebell with anybody else (Except maybe your spouse!).
2. You’re tired of the same old boring exercise routine.
I don’t have to tell you how boring some exercise routines can be. Kettlebell training is fresh and exciting and will breathe new life into your exercise program. Kettlebell exercises are fast, challenging, and work every muscle in your body all at the same time so you don’t have to do boring isolation exercises.
3. You’re tired of not seeing the results you know you should be.
Here’s the deal – your body is very smart. It adapts quickly to any exercise routine you’re on. Sometimes in as little as two weeks and as long as six weeks. Kettlebell training gives you infinite combinations and set and rep schemes so your body is continually challenged to change – to get you the results you want. And because kettlebell exercises use your entire body all at the same time, you get results faster than you would with just traditional exercises.
4. You want to spend less time working out and more time doing the things you love to do.
Here’s something we don’t think a lot about when it comes to working out – time is our most precious resource and if you’re driving to and from the gym, standing in line for treadmills, and “working in” with other people, then you’re wasting a lot of it. And the sad thing is, you can never ever get it back.
But because dedicated kettlebell training allows you to not only work all your muscles in a single exercise, but also get your cardio in at same time, you can get more bang for your exercise buck than you would with conventional exercise, and you can do it all from the comfort of you own home.
So instead of spending 60 to 90 minutes driving to the gym, working out at the gym, and driving back home, you can do anywhere from one to five (or more) kettlebell exercises from the comfort of your own home in as little as 20 minutes. You’ll not only get a great workout and see results quickly, but you’ll have more time to spend doing other things.
5. You have some injuries which prevent you from getting the results you used to.
Did you know that a whopping 70% of runners get injured? Amazing isn’t it? Running, and many other traditional forms of cardio is murder on your joints and muscles. Kettlebell training, when performed correctly, is amazing gentle on your joints, but but makes your muscles work hard, giving you faster results than you are used to. And, specific kettlebell exercises, like the Swing, have actually helped many people rehab injuries like lower back, hips, and knees.
If you fit one or more of those items on that checklist, kettlebell training may be the solution you’re looking for to get back into shape and actually start getting the results you keep dreaming about.
